FBI Expands Definition of Rape

Here's an update to a previous postThe justice department has changed their definition of rape for the first time since 1927.
The revised definition includes any gender of victim or perpetrator. It also includes instances in which a victim is incapable of giving consent because of mental or physical incapacity, such as intoxication. Physical resistance is not required to demonstrate lack of consent.
It's about time. I'm very interested to see how this changes the crime statistics regarding rape, as we should now have a better idea of its frequency.

  1. This actually has significant implications within the armed forces as well as they are just starting to really acknowledge military sexual trauma that occurs while serving.

But yeah, only took about 85 years to update the definition.
