FBI proposes expanding definition of rape for first time in 80+ years

Since 1929 the FBI has officially defined rape as "the carnal knowledge of a  female forcibly and against her will" [italics added]. How ludicrous is that? That definition not only excludes males but also oral rape, statutory rape, and rape with inanimate objects.

The new proposed definition: "Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim" must still be approved by the All Points Bulletin and the director of the FBI in December.

This change has a number of positive implications but the question remains: "will the change lead people to take rape seriously?"

On a side note, while I hope it reflects the enthusiasm of knowing that the definition has changed, I find the expression on that protester's face disquieting.
