Science Bites: Yeti Crabs, Stellar Vampirism, Sexting, Other Earths, and the God Particle

Holy Moly! It's been quite a busy time for science the last few weeks. Here's some quick science links in an easily digestible format:

• Biologists have discovered that the deep sea "Yeti Crab," a crustacean that looks like a concept sketch for the next SyFy original film, is quite the little farmer. The crab nurtures bacteria on it's claws by waving them back and forth over methane and sulfide vents until the bacteria reach the right level of yumminess.  
• Astronomers have finally captured stellar vampirism -- whereby one star sucks the gas from another dying star. The bad news? It's not all that exciting.
• It turns out that "Sexting" by kids aged 10 to 17 years old, isn't as common  as once thought. All available evidence suggests it has nothing to do with Brett Favre retiring.
• These Astronomers are really on a role. They've found a planet (Kepler-22b) that is 2.4 times the size of earth, may contain a global ocean (or at least a lot of compressed ice), and if it has a surface, would be approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit. More discoveries are likely on the way as the total of possible earth-like planets is at 2,326.
• It could just be smoke screening by physicists who don't want to be upstaged by Astronomers but there are rumblings that they may see the first glimpse of the "Higgs boson" (a.k.a., the "God particle") as early as next week.
